Livedrive is backed by Andrew Michael. Andrew founded Fasthosts Internet Limited, the UK's largest and most successful Internet hosting company which he sold in 2006 for over $120m. Andrew commented: "Online storage is the future. Lots of companies are trying to do it today but the products are crap and not a replacement for traditional storage methods. Livedrive has been over two years in the making and will be the standard by which all competing products are judged".

Livedrive have always provided our customers with a fantastic range of features – from simple, secure online backup, to the ability to use and access your files anywhere you go. We’ve loved listening to user feedback over the past year, and have found that different users use Livedrive in very different ways. Some users just want to easily and regularly backup their files with the minimum of fuss, while some users want to make use of our advanced access-anywhere features that let you see your files on every PC, or view and edit your files online.

That is why we’re proud to announce a new look Livedrive with two completely different products – Livedrive Backup, and Livedrive Backup & Briefcase.

Livedrive Backup is our new dedicated backup product – it keeps a copy of your files safely online. It’s very easy to install – you can set up your backups in minutes with no technical knowledge required – and it works in the background to constantly protect your files as you work. You don’t need to worry about scheduling your backups, or remembering to do anything at all – you just set it up and forget about it. There are no limits on storage space or bandwidth, so you don’t ever have to worry about how many files you backup. Livedrive Backup is ideal for the user who just wants to protect their files from loss or damage, and never wants to think about it ever again.
Livedrive Backup & Briefcase combines two great features – Livedrive Backup (as above) and Livedrive Briefcase. Livedrive Briefcase is the new name of Livedrive’s famous access-anywhere product. When you install Livedrive Briefcase on your computer you get a new drive added – drive L: – where you can put files that you use regularly. These files are stored on your hard drive and you can use them just like normal files, but they are also copied online so that you can access them from any web browser. You can securely view, edit or add files to your Livedrive Briefcase from any browser anywhere, and any files you change are also updated on your computer. If you install Livedrive Briefcase on more than one computer then you see the same files on every computer, and files you change on one machine are also changed on every other almost instantly! Livedrive Briefcase also has fantastic functionality for advanced users – such as FTP access, online-only files and version history – and like our Backup product it’s completely unlimited, so there’s no limit on how many files you put on your Briefcase.
